Your guide to summer protection
There are many factors to be aware of in Spring and Summer to keep our skin as radiant and healthy
There are various environmental factors we have to be aware of during the Spring and Summer months to keep our skin looking as radiant and healthy as possible.
Problem: sun damage
Solution: whilst we may not think here in the UK we need to worry about our skin accumulating sun damage, the truth is invisible ultra violet (UV) rays are penetrating our skin as soon as there is daylight. We don’t even have to burn our skins to eventually see its harmful effects over a period of time. Age spots, thickening of the epidermis and premature lines and wrinkles are common telltale signs that your skin has been exposed to daylight without daily sun protection. Wear sun protection factor (SPF) every day to keep your skin protected from long term damage. Choose from Moisturising Solar Shield SPF 25 or C+Bright SPF 15. Remember hands and lips are also exposed to the light Hand and Nail Rescue Cream has SPF 20 and Seal & Protect Lip Balm has SPF of 10.
Solution: the safest remedy from sunburn is prevention and following the guide to skin safety (see below) is the best bet to ensure pain free fun in the sun. However, if you are unfortunate enough to burn your skin apply a cooling, soothing and hydrating gel. Soothing Masque is an Aloe Vera based gel with anti-inflammatory Green Tea to take the sting out and assist in the repair process.
Solution: heat and arid air can suck the moisture out of your skin leaving it looking dull, parched and lined. Replenish moisture with skin drenching Hyaluronic Acid serum from our Advanced line and seal it in with any of our moisturizing lotions or creams. Use a mild exfoliant such as Exfoliating Scrub or Age Resist Active Complex once a week to gently remove dried out surface skin exposing plumper, moister skin. Follow with Soothing Masque, ideal for all skins that are suffering from depleted moisture.
Guide to Skin Safety in the Sun.
- Apply sunscreens 20 minutes before going into the sun. The product needs time to absorb fully in the skin.
- Re-apply every 2 hours for maximum protection, sooner if swimming or sweating.
- Ensure the product is still in date.
- SPF measures protection from UVB (burning) rays. The higher the number the greater protection from burning.
