Acneic Skin

Acneic Skin

Characteristics and Causes

Acneic skin occurs when the hormones of the body are over stimulated, producing an excess of oil in the pores; this combined with bacteria and dead skin cell accumulation leads to inflammation eruptions and severe breakouts.

Some typical symptoms of acneic skin are:

Inflamed pustular breakouts (spots)
Severe blackheads and clogged pores
Extreme oiliness
Coarser, thicker skin texture
Acneic skin is stereotypically prevalent in teenagers, however we are seeing more and
more cases of adults with acne.

Triggers are due to hormone fluctuations and stress, both of which can over stimulate oil production. Acne is not caused by poor hygiene.

Using occlusive skincare ingredients that 'sit' heavily on the skin can lead to pores becoming blocked and bacteria thriving within, exasperating the condition even more.
